Ghana’s Cocoa Board Banker Bid For $2 Billion…

The Ghana Cocoa Board is receiving bids from banks for a $2 billion trade-financing facility for cocoa purchases in the current year and the next crop year, said Deputy Chief Executive Officer Yaw Adu-Ampomah.

The board is seeking $500 million more than it did last year for the purchases, Adu-Ampomah said in a phone interview today from Accra, the capital.

The board has purchased 713,000 metric tons of cocoa beans from farmers in the first 22 weeks of the current season that began in October, compared with about 400,000 in the same period a year earlier, he said.
