New Hit Single by D Black called Oh Vera!

The new swag hit by the one and only D-Black.

I guarantee you if you listen to this azonto/ hip hop tune you’ll be singing it throughout the whole week! Yep I guarantee, with the catchy pidgin lyrics “Ebi me wey you do me Like dat?”

The music video features a newly fresh signed artist by D- Black, who goes by the name Joey B( check him out guys). My great applauds to the creative Mr Zeph who filmed and edited the music video.

This music video has set the bar for me, especially when it comes to the Ghana hip-hop scene. The high school swag, hip hop theme and creative animation all worked effectively for me.

A successful video yet again by D- Black.

In the music video we see how D- Black truly loved “VERA”, however the beautiful, curvaceous “VERA” has more cards to play other than just the poor D- Black. He scrambles to keep her through reminiscing all he has done for her, but sadly fails when she’s off again with another fella.

“Herh! I fool Paa I now see… Ooh VERA”.

Check out the Video! And tell us what you think.

Ghanaian Music: D’Cryme – It’s You

Dr CrymeDr Cryme, the rapper famous for the catchphrase “you don’t need to be told” is back with a brand new single and video ‘It’s You’. Currently one of the biggest artist Tema has produced yet again, Dr Cryme has cemented his stay in the music business by collaborating with artists such as Sarkodie, Chemphe, D-Black and Stay Jay as well as releasing his own singles ‘Kill Me Shy’, ‘Mene Woa’ and ‘Fre Me’.

It’s You’ will be the fourth single from Dr Cryme’s highly anticipated album ‘Finally Finally’, which was launched at Citizen Kofi in Ghana last Friday. The twi pop singer delivers yet again and ‘It’s You’ is definitely a song to write home about! Having established himself as a rapper as well as a singer, he moves smoothly between the two in the song. His silky voice over a relaxed hip hop beat accompanied by the piano works very nicely and he switches effortlessly between Twi and English. So even if you don’t understand one or the other, you’ll definitely get the gist of what the song is about.

The video itself was directed by Nana Asihene and it’s a simple one shot in black and white. With no storyline it just features Dr Cryme alone in an abandoned stairwell and an open field. The lack of activity and movement in the video means that focus is centred on Dr Cryme’s singing and thoughtful lyrics. A definite thumps up for the song!

Ghana Music: D-Black Feat. Sarkodie

As far as music videos in Ghana go, D-Black stepped out of the norm with this one. His new animated video to the single ‘My Kinda Girl’ premiered in Ghana last week, with a string of celebrities such as 4×4, R2Bees, Joselyn Dumas, Naeto C, Reggie Rockstone and others in attendance.  The music video was the creation of Nigerian animator Jonathan Olamide.

D-Black’s ‘My Kinda Girl’ is a collaboration with Ghana’s fastest rapper Sarkodie, and the two rappers do a great job spitting catchy and witty lyrics over heavy hip hop beats. The animated video which roughly has a story line is funny, pokes harmless fun at some of Ghana’s well known movie starts and musicians such as Nadia Buari, Jackie Appiah, Lydia Forson, Majid Michel, Reggie Rockstone, Yvonne Nelson and Dee Money.

D-Black flying the flag for Ghana

The nominations for the 2011 BET Awards were announced in New York Tuesday with Chris Brown leading the pack with 6 nominations followed closely by Lil Wayne with five of his own.  Drake, Kanye West, and Rihanna also nabbed four nominations each.

Nevertheless, for the second time in the 11 year history of the awards, African artists have been nominated for laurels at the prestigious honours for Black/African American entertainers.  And unlike the previous year, nominations for African acts have now been separated from the UK acts in the Best International Act category.

The nominee for Best International Act Africa include:

The nominees for the annual awards show were announced on 106 & Park by hosts Terrence and Rocsi . The 2011 BET Awards has been set to air live from L.A. on June 26 and would be hosted by comedian Kevin Hart.

Hearing and reading this again really makes us think. Is the world now really starting to realise that Africa is a force to acknowledge now…?

Either way, we say Red Gold and Green all the way!

All the best to our boy D-Black
